Garmin eTrex Vista Handheld GPS Review & Geocaching how-to
This is a video review for the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx handheld GPS unit and how to use it for geocaching. The review covers key features of this Garmin unit and how it works particularly well with the geocaching.com site to download caches directly to the eTrex. It also shows you the eTrex in action while hunting for a geocache. Lastly, I give my likes and dislikes as well as give you a list of what’s in the box.

I still find it amazing that this is now so much easier with an iPhone, I can do a search for nearby caches, log visits, add pics, all directly from my phone. Of course I still bring a gps, for where there is no cell signal.

Interesting that you don’t demonstrate the compass navigation screen for geocaching, Many geocachers consider it to be the key tool on a unit for geocaching. It makes it so much easier. Follow the arrow and watch the distance count down.

Great vid and looks like the kids are haveing a blast. I’m doing reasearch on what gps to buy. My two boys are going to love this goecaching!!
What I love about them is the signal reception, size, and waterproofing.
I use the iPhone app for geocaching but it’s horrible. I think I’m going to have to invest in a GPS.
It’s over a million caches worldwide now.

okay. I found something what will do the paperless 4 me
it’s called cachewolf it does all the things and you don’t need to be a premium member and it loads them as a POI
Not entirly, sometimes, and we do it all the time with cache we use paper for our puzzles, the search on coordinates is easy on etrex for sure
